CASS Events Autumn 2014

This article was posted on 24 Jul 2014.

This autumn the Clarinet and Saxophone Society have three exciting events for you, with saxophone and clarinet repair courses in Cambridge, and a Single Reed Day at the beautiful Haileybury School. Discounts are of course available to all CASS members.

Repair Courses – 7th and 14th September

On 7th September Daniel Bangham will lead a one-day Clarinet Repair Course at the dedicated teaching workshop at Stapleford Granary near Cambridge. We will be providing a range of instruments for you to practice on, but feel free to bring your own, and you will learn how to get your instrument working at its best.

One week later, on 14th September, Daniel Bangham will be leading a Saxophone Repair Course. Again, instruments will be provided, but you are very welcome to bring your own.
To find out more click here.

The aim of both these events is for you to learn, through demonstration, observation and hands-on practice, to identify problems, undertake successful emergency repairs, and maintain your instrument in good playing condition.

Daniel Bangham is an internationally renowned woodwind craftsman, who established his reputation as an expert early clarinet maker during the ‘80s and ‘90s. His instruments can be heard on many of the finest recordings of Classical clarinet music, and in the next issue of Clarinet & Saxophone magazine you can read about clarinet soloist Antony Pay, Principal Clarinet with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Academy of Ancient Music, who uses Daniel’s instruments.

Haileybury Single Reed Day – 19th October, 10am – 5pm

Join us at Haileybury College, Hertford for a day of non-stop playing, trade exhibitions and free instrument repair help.
The day starts with combined single reed choirs and continues with saxophone and clarinet choirs, workshops and mini masterclasses. The tutors will include James Rae, Jeffrey Wilson, David Campbell, Gemma Harvey and Eddie Ashton.
