This article was posted on 28 Mar 2019.

Congratulations to Shaohui Hao (1st year MA) who won the inaugural Trinity Laban Saxophone Award on 20 March! Second prize was awarded to Hannah Brierley (2nd year MMus) and third prize to Wayne Hau (1st year PGAD).

Adjudicated by special guest Timothy McAllister, students were tasked with performing a study of their own choice up to four minutes long. The winner was awarded a £250 voucher to spend at Howarth of London and will perform a concerto with the Trinity Laban Saxophone Choir in May 2019. Second and third prize winners received a selection of saxophone sheet music and Vandoren reeds supplied by Barnes and Mullins Ltd. All three prize winners were also awarded a year's free CASSGB membership.

The competition formed part of the Trinity Laban Saxophone Day, which also featured a public masterclass with McAllister and an open rehearsal of the Trinity Laban Sax Choir directed by Gerard McCrystal.
