RNCM Saxophone Day: 3rd November

This article was posted on 28 Sep 2018.

The Royal Northern College of Music Saxophone Day is the UK’s largest annual sax gathering. This year it takes place on Sunday 3 November. Players of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend a full day of participatory workshops and concerts alongside a large trade exhibition.

The day begins with a massed saxophone orchestra. Guests Leo van Oostrom, collector and pioneer of the classical and jazz saxophone in the Netherlands, and Erik-Jan de With, a member of the Hague Saxophone Quartet, will give a tribute concert to the inventor of the saxophone, Adolphe Sax. Emma McPhilemy, a recent graduate of the RNCM’s International Artist Diploma, will give a spotlight solo recital. The day’s headline concert will be the UK premiere of a new collaborative project between the Rotterdam-based Artvark Saxophone Quartet and Manchester-based Apollo Saxophone Quartet.

To book a day ticket (£36) please call the RNCM box office on 0161 907 5555. Alternatively, book online at where there is also more information about the day. Student/under-18 tickets are £18.
