The Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain (CASSGB) was founded in 1976 for the benefit of anyone with an interest in these instruments and the music playable on them (which increasingly means just about anything!). We are very proud to be an organisation for everyone, young or old, keen amateur, student, or celebrated soloist, from Great Britain or abroad.

The Clarinet and Saxophone magazine is one of the cornerstones of the society and is distributed internationally to all its members.

The magazine covers anything and everything to do with the clarinet and saxophone world including Interviews with international artists, news, analysis, reviews. You could find yourself writing or editing about a concert review, latest developments of instruments or an interview with a Grammy nominee.

As well as delivering fresh-thinking content and ideas, this role requires strong entrepreneurial flair, and a strong commercial understanding. We are looking for an editor to help move the society and the magazine forward and help grow our reader base. Each editor has come and put on their own stamp to our magazine to move us forward in our journey.

  • Create and design a strategy for the magazine
  • Build and maintain client relationships
  • Research and actively build industry knowledge
  • Be an active member of the CASSGB leadership team and support with events and quarterly meetings

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience of writing/editing a magazine, preferably in the Arts
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills / multi-tasker
  • Strong communications skills with ability to build strong relationships
  • An excellent team player
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Confidence and enthusiasm to attend events/ recitals/concerts to generate content and to hold face to face interviews
  • Knowledge of clarinets and saxophones

What we offer:

  • £2300 - £2500 Flat Fee per magazine
  • 20% Commission on advertising revenue

How to Apply

Please send your CV with a covering letter which outlines why you would love to take on this role and why you are a great match for this role to secretary@cassgb.org. Please feel free to provide any links or attachments for examples of publishing and editing to demonstrate previous experience.
