The nominees for the 2021 Grammy Awards have been announced, recognising the best new recordings, compositions and artistic achievement from 1 September 2019 to 31 August 2020.
Across 83 award categories the following single-reed artists have been nominated (who all happen to be saxophonists this year):
Best Chamber Music / Small Ensemble Performance:
Contemporary Voices – Pacifica Quartet; Otis Murphy, alto saxophone. Disc features Quintet for Alto Saxophone & String Quartet in A Minor by Ellen Taafe Zwilich.
Best Jazz Instrumental Album:
RoundAgain – Joshua Redman Quartet
Best Improvised Jazz Solo:
Moe Honk – Joshua Redman, saxophone. Track from ‘RoundAgain’ (Joshua Redman Quartet)
Best Instrumental Composition:
Strata – Remy Le Boeuf, composer. Track from ‘Remy Le Boeuf's Assembly of Shadows’, featuring Remy Le Bouef on saxophones.
Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella:
