CASSGB Clarinet Composition Competition for Young Composers

CASSGB Clarinet Composition Competition for Young Composers

This article was posted on 8 Feb 2022.

PRIZE: £500

CASSGB is delighted to announce the launch of a clarinet composition competition, open to composers aged 25 and under on 1 May 2022. The winning composition will be used as a set piece for our forthcoming Young Clarinet Soloist Competition, which follows the success of our Young Saxophone Soloist Competition held in early 2020.

The piece should be written for solo unaccompanied B flat clarinet and aimed at Grade 8 level players. It can be written in any style or genre and should last around two minutes. The whole piece must also fit on two A4 pages, as the winning entry will be reproduced in the centre pages of a future issue of Clarinet & Saxophone.

The competition is open to all UK nationals and residents at the time of entry. Both members and non-members of CASSGB are welcome to apply. There is no entry fee.

Music submitted for the competition should not currently be published either online or in print.

Compositions should be submitted as a PDF file and written using music notation software (i.e. Sibelius or Finale). Entrants should also complete an application form.

Any queries, as well as completed application forms and compositions, should be emailed to
